May 2013 - Inaugural Dementia Beyond Drugs...changing the culture of care workshops
We were fortunate to have Dr G. Allen Power visit Melbourne from the 14th to the 17th May for the first of two 2-day workshops on "Dementia Beyond Drugs". It was a whirlwind visit and the content of the course is amazing. Whether you are an Eden Associate or a person working in the aged and community care sector this 2 day experiential workshop is challenging the way we 'see' people living with dementia.
The Eden Alternative Domains of WellbeingTM are universal and a significant shift in how we first work to find and then identify the underlying cause of a person's percieved behaviour if they have dementia. Ever wondered why the 'behaviour' we see never goes away? In many ways, Eden Associates will benefit from exploring and understanding the experiential impact of having dementia and 'being in the shoes' of someone living with memory loss. Delving deeper into culture change, Dementia Beyond Drugs is a natural progression for providing wellbeing for all.
